Well, "they" said it could never happen. And I, living here in Texas, said that Texas would be the first to do it if given the opportunity. Well, here we go....will your State be next?

It may be to late for this generation but, Bob I Should Be Laughing says, JUST FUCKING VOTE!!!

  1. We were talking about this just yesterday.
I keep telling people that the xtianists will come for Obergefell and they tell me it's 'impossible'. Well, Roe V. Wade was also 'impossible' to overturn. They will keep bringing these stupid cases to SCOTUS and then they'll all be like: "WHAT?" as if we didnt warn them....

BTW, love Bryan Tyler Cohen. He's worth a follow.

    XOXO

    1. It is time for this "head in the sand" attitude to end. I am getting more and more into my fighting mood that I had when I was in my 20's and am frustrated by not having that level of energy any more. But at every opportunity and every turn I will speak up and speak out..."They" are going to manipulate every court case thay can to end it up in the Supreme Court where six bigots will make the decisions that rip apart everything "we" have achieved over the past 50+ years.

  2. Nothing is impossible or surprise me when it comes to certain states. I have a best friend who is gay and my cousin and his wife, the first in San Antionio and my cousins in Houston...they are all moving out of state. Before long, I think our country is going to be split into red states verses blue states. It will be like the North and South again like the Civil War. Since most people don't and won't meet in the middle, and each side give and take, both sides want everything or nothing... we have become extreme left and right. We are on course I feel to become a divided country. And heavens forbid your one-color living in the opposite color state. Life will be made hell.

    1. Truth of the matter is that these court decisions, when they end up in SCOTUS, will be decided by 6 bigots and will then become the law of the land. It will not matter which state you live in. Future cases, in all states, will be decided based on what SCOTUS rules. So, put bars on your doors and windows. "They" are coming for all of us soon. The LGBTQ+ community, people of color both black, brown, Asian...anyone who is not white and so-called christian, any and all who do not fit their narrow and bigoted definition of American. And tragically, what the US does will migrate around the globe just as marriage equality did and the world will be torn assunder as a result of the SCOTUS decisions.

    2. True that. I have several friends who left the country before Trump won. And they all say the same thing you do that we're starting to corrupt the whole entire globe. Depressing and such a shame. But I can't figure out is how the Republicans are still ahead of us when Obama was in we had all three branches of government so how Republicans are still getting stuff through I can't understand it. And Borden has slight leads. It's very puzzling.

  3. Vote them all out because once they're done with women's health care choices, and the rights of Black Americans to vote, and same-sex marriage, they'll be coming for the rest of you.
    CAST A GODDAMNED VOTE.

  4. That tweet is nice outrage bait but is (as usual) short low on details, and although it is true it is misleading. The tweet makes it sound as if the Texas Supreme Court is trying to ban gay marriage; instead it is allowing a judge who does not want to perform gay weddings (and referred gay couple who wanted to get married to other judges) to be able to do so. Maybe that is bad (I am sure Sixpence will put me on full blast), and we can make slippery slope arguments, but this is pretty different than the implication that the Supreme Court is trying to strike down gay marriage entirely.

Observe how the tweet uses the singular they to make the message more confusing. I highly doubt that this particular Christian judge uses they/them pronouns, and she is pretty clearly identified in other news stories: https://www.keranews.org/news/2023-07-13/texas-judge-who-doesnt-want-to-perform-gay-marriage-ceremonies-hopes-web-designers-supreme-court-case-helps-her-fight
